Much like Tribal Societe, French designer Manuela Moollan has created a new label, Ahilya, which consists of ethical and fashionable collections.  Most notable are her sustainable scarves made of hand spun and hand woven cashmere, that is pure genuine “pashmina.”  The scarves are made by the disadvantaged in Kashmir, India, people who are marginalised by society and not really part of the global system.  Moollan forms a trusting relationship with these workers, making sure that they are paid reasonable prices for their handiwork whilst continually supporting their age-old tradition of weaving.  Sound familiar?

In the coming months, visit her website, www.ahilya.com, to preview Moollan’s second line, a collection of scarves, capes and draped shapes all made in Great Britain using specially selected merino wool.
